| Motorola's
line of VMEbus products using PowerPC® architecture-compatible
processors expands the boundaries for functionality and
performance in the VMEbus market. What differentiates this product
family is our PowerPlus Architecture. Based on in-house
application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) designed for
exclusive use in our products, our boards offer unprecedented
levels of system performance. This is accomplished by addressing
three critical areas: optimizing processor and cache performance,
minimizing memory bottlenecks and optimizing system I/O
throughput.
The
evolution to PowerPlus II Architecture takes memory performance to
new levels with 582MB/s memory read bandwidth and 640MB/s burst
write bandwidth. Equally important as optimization of the memory
bus is optimization of the system bus for maximum system
performance. While other chipsets top out at 70MB/s for PCI-to-memory
bandwidth, the PowerPlus II Architecture supports throughput of
80MB/s without starving the CPU of memory access.
Motorola's
new AltiVec™ technology expands the capabilities of PowerPC
architecture-compatible microprocessors by providing leading-edge,
general purpose processing performance while concurrently
addressing high-bandwidth data processing and algorithm-intensive
computations in a single-chip solution.
