VMEbus Board - PowerPC Architecture

Motorola's line of VMEbus products using PowerPC® architecture-compatible processors expands the boundaries for functionality and performance in the VMEbus market. What differentiates this product family is our PowerPlus Architecture. Based on in-house application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) designed for exclusive use in our products, our boards offer unprecedented levels of system performance. This is accomplished by addressing three critical areas: optimizing processor and cache performance, minimizing memory bottlenecks and optimizing system I/O throughput.

The evolution to PowerPlus II Architecture takes memory performance to new levels with 582MB/s memory read bandwidth and 640MB/s burst write bandwidth. Equally important as optimization of the memory bus is optimization of the system bus for maximum system performance. While other chipsets top out at 70MB/s for PCI-to-memory bandwidth, the PowerPlus II Architecture supports throughput of 80MB/s without starving the CPU of memory access.

Motorola's new AltiVec™ technology expands the capabilities of PowerPC architecture-compatible microprocessors by providing leading-edge, general purpose processing performance while concurrently addressing high-bandwidth data processing and algorithm-intensive computations in a single-chip solution.

MVME5500

 

MVME5500 features the MPC7455 processor at speeds of 1 GHz and beyond. In addition, it features 2MB of L3 cache, 512MB or 1GB of ECC protected SDRAM memory, 32MB of on-board Flash, 8MB of socketed Flash, dual 33/66 MHz PMC sites, a Gb Ethernet interface, a 10/100 Ethernet interface, dual serial ports and a VMEbus interface.

 

MVME5100

 

MVME5100 is offered in two temperature grades: commercial—with operating temperatures of 0 to 55° C and extended—with operating temperatures of -20 to 71° C. It features the MPC750 class microprocessor with up to 1MB of backside L2 cache.

 

MVME2700

 

MVME2700 features the MPC750 class microprocessor, the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) bus for the on-board peripherals, processor/memory bus to PCI bus bridge and a VMEbus interface.

 

MVME2400

 

MVME2400 features the MPC750 class microprocessor with up to 1MB of backside L2 cache and dual PMC slots to 32-256MB of ECC protected SDRAM, 8MB of on-board Flash, 1MB of socketed Flash, 10/100BaseT Ethernet, one serial port and two 64-bit P1386.

 

MVME2100

 

MVME2100 features the MPC8240 integrated microprocessors compatible with the PowerPC® architecture with an MPC60x class core, an advanced memory controller and a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) interface.

 

MVME2300

 

MVME2300 features dual PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) slots with support for both front panel and P2 I/O. It utilizes the MPC60x class 32-bit microprocessors, the peripheral component interconnect (PCI) bus for the on board peripherals, processor/memory bus to PCI bus bridge and a VMEbus interface.

 

MVME2600

 

MVME2600 incorporates the MPC60x class 32-bit microprocessors, the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) bus for the on-board peripherals, processor/memory bus to PCI bus bridge and a VMEbus interface.
